3797543 - Equipment Number not captured in MIGO for certain movement types

When posting a goods movement in MIGO for a specific movement type, the value entered in the Equipment Number field is not saved/captured in the material document.

After posting, the field appears empty in the document display — even if a value was manually entered during the posting.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open MIGO (Post Goods Movement app).
2. Insert Process, Reference and Movement Type.
3. Insert the mandatory info and the Equipment value. 
4. Post it. 
5. Open the Material Document created. 

Equipment field is blank (the value was not saved). 

This is a system limitation in SAP S/4HANA Public Cloud. The Equipment Number field is not maintained in the backend for specific movement types — meaning the value is technically not captured or persisted in the material document CDS view I_MATERIALDOCUMENTITEM_2 under this scenario.

This behavior is not a bug, but rather a current limitation of the standard system for the affected movement type.

As a workaround, it is possible to capture the Equipment Number using a custom extension field, created via Key User Extensibility.

Custom fields created in this context are stored in the I_MATERIALDOCUMENTITEM_2 CDS view and can be visualized in Material Document reports. 

The steps are shown below:

1. Open Custom Fields app. 
2. Click in New Field. 
3. Fill the properties:
   1. Business Context: MATERIALDOCUMENTITEM;
   2. Label: Equipment Number (Custom);
   3. Type: Text;
   4. Length: 18.
4. Click in 'Create and Edit'.
5. Navigate to User Interfaces tab. 
6. Click in Enable Usage for all the available Data Sources. 
7. Navigate to Analytics tab. 
8. Click in Enable Usage for all the available Data Sources. 
9. Click in Save. 
10. Click in Publish. 

Wait some time for the activation. Then you can check in MIGO, in tab Custom Fields, if the extension field was created accordingly. 

You can also add the Custom Field in the Material Documents Overview app. The steps are described below: 

1. Go to Material Documents Overview app. 
2. Open the Settings. 
3. Search for the created Custom Field. 
4. Select it. 
5. Click in OK. 

Now the Extension Field has been added as a column in the app.
