Symptom
- The manager information for an employee is updated, but EP side still displays the old manager after the HRIS Sync job completes.
- The HRIS Sync job completes without fully processing all records, and the Sync Details report shows the following error for the affected user:
Sync Result: Save Failed
Field Source: User Relationship – manager
Sync Message: Manager ID is Invalid
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
1. Change manager for sample user.
2. Check the EP manager, which still shows the old manager.
Cause
The new manager assigned to the employee has not been converted to a full Employee Central (EC) user. The system flag isOnboardeeFlag is set to true for the new manager, meaning the user is still recognized as an external onboardee rather than a valid EC user.
As a result, the HRIS Sync is unable to validate the new manager's ID and the update fails with the error "Manager ID is Invalid."
Resolution
Once the conversion is complete, re-trigger the HRIS Sync job (either manually or wait for the next scheduled run) to allow the manager information to be updated successfully.
