SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Log on with a user that has update authorization restricted to customer role FLCU01.
2. Open the Manage Customer Master Data app.
3. Open a business partner that includes customer roles (for example FLCU00/FLCU01) and supplier roles (for example FLVN00/FLVN01).
4. Do not change any data and choose Save.
5. Observe errors such as "role FLCU00 is not valid", "role FLVN00 is not valid", "role FLVN01 is not valid".

• The user is authorized to update only the customer role FLCU01; roles like FLCU00 are not within the user’s authorization.
• Supplier roles (FLVN00/FLVN01) are not maintained in the Manage Customer Master Data app. When the business partner contains supplier roles, saving in this app triggers role validation and results in “role … is not valid” errors for roles that are either unauthorized or not supported by the app.

Use the correct application for supplier roles:

1. Maintain supplier roles (FLVN00/FLVN01) in the Manage Business Partner Master Data or Manage Supplier apps.

If changes must be performed in Manage Customer Master Data:

1. Ensure the user has appropriate update authorizations for the required customer roles (for example, FLCU00 and FLCU01).

2. Have a user with sufficient authorization perform the save, or adjust the user’s role restrictions accordingly.

Re-test by saving in the appropriate app:

1. Save in Manage Business Partner Master Data when supplier roles are involved.

2. Save in Manage Customer Master Data only for customer-role-specific updates within the user’s authorization.
