3798222 - Query performance slower on SAP ASE 16.0 than 15.7 despite identical plans and io - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • During upgrade testing from ASE 15.7 to ASE 16.0, overall query runtime is slower on ASE 16.0.
  • Query execution plans and logical/physical IO are identical between versions, yet ASE 16.0 has higher elapsed.
  • The behavior is observed across most queries, not just isolated statements.
  • In statistics plancost output, the EMIT operator on ASE 16.0 shows higher CPU consumption compared to ASE 15.7 for the same queries.
