3800158 - Version Management in Import Financial Plan Data App for Budget Upload - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

The Import Financial Plan Data App does not support budget uploads as separate versions. Existing budget data is overwritten when a new file is imported, with no historical versioning or traceability of changes.

Managing a large number of cost centers when processing supplements, returns, or transfers is also complex due to this overwrite behavior.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Import Financial Plan Data App.
2. Upload a budget file for Planning Category BUDGET02 for one or more cost centers.
3. Verify budget values are updated in reports.
4. Prepare a second file for the same planning scope (same company code, fiscal year, cost center, account, etc.) with revised values.
5. Upload the second file using the Import Financial Plan Data App.
6. Review budget data; observe that prior values are replaced by the latest upload.

The Import Financial Plan Data App is currently the only application supporting bulk upload of budget data. This App only supports defining budget data, meaning existing budget values are overwritten by the new values provided. Budget data does not include a "Version" attribute.

A workaround for bulk uploading budget data is to use the Import Financial Plan Data App to upload the final calculated budget values directly.

Example: If the current budget is €100 for Cost Center 1 and €200 for Cost Center 2, and the intention is to increase Cost Center 1 by €10 while transferring €30 from Cost Center 2 to Cost Center 1, a new budget file can be created as follows:

• Set the budget for Cost Center 1 to €140 (100 + 10 + 30).
• Set the budget for Cost Center 2 to €170 (200 − 30).

After importing this file, the budget for Cost Center 1 will increase by €40 and the budget for Cost Center 2 will decrease by €30.

It has been confirmed that version-based budget uploads and a "Version" attribute for budget data are currently not available.

A feature request can be raised through the Customer Influence website by selecting SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, Finance. SAP Customer Influence enables customers to submit improvement requests and vote on them.
