3800174 - Custom MDF objects in hire template need "Edit" permission to be visible in Manage Pending Hires - Onboarding

Symptom

When HR users are granted with only "View" permission of custom MDF objects in hire template, they can view the custom MDF object data in the Onboarding pages (e.g. Final Review, New Hire Data, etc.), but cannot view the same in Manage Pending Hires page.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Configure the same custom MDF object into Onboarding hire templates and Manage Pending Hires template.
  2. Candidate maintain data for custom MDF object in Personal Data Collection step > submit.
  3. Log in as HR user who has only View permission to the impacted custom MDF object.
  4. Go to Onboarding Dashboard > open an onboardee's record.
  5. Click on Actions > New Hire Data > confirm the custom MDF object data are visible.
  6. Go to Manage Pending Hires > open the same onboardee's record.
  7. Observe that the whole custom MDF object is not visible in Manage Pending Hires.

Cause

It's an expected behavior per current design. 

In Manage Pending Hires, custom MDF object data in the hire template require "Edit" permission for visibility.

Resolution

Submit an Enhancement Idea in the Customer Influence portal if this is an important feature/function you would like to see in Onboarding in a future release: 2090228 - How to submit enhancement ideas for SAP SuccessFactors Product.

[Workaround] 

Create new permission groups per business needs to grant Edit permission of custom MDF objects in hire templates.
