3800483 - WBS Account Assignment to a Sales Order Not Blocked Despite Unreleased Status in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • An unreleased WBS element can be assigned to a sales order item without the system raising an error message.
  • The system does not enforce a validation that blocks the assignment of an unreleased WBS element to a sales order item.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

1. Create a customer project.

2. Create a sales order manually.

3. Assign the unreleased WBS element on the Account Assignment tab of the item and save the data.

Cause

Improper user handling

Resolution

  • According to SAP documentation, the processing status of a project or WBS element controls which project-related operations you can perform. However, the Released status is not a prerequisite for assigning a WBS element to a sales order item in this scenario. The system does not raise an error when you enter an unreleased WBS element in a sales order.
