3800709 - Previous Employment Personal Information records are updated for Rehire with New Employment or Legal Entity Transfer For New Employment when initiated from ATS

• The existing Personal Information (PerPersonal) record is updated with a new effective start date during the onboarding process completion when onboarding is initiated without triggering a PerPersonal Upsert from External ATS.
• The historical Personal Information record is not retained as expected, resulting in the existing record being updated to reflect the new employment details.
• The issue is observed particularly in rehire scenarios where the employee has existing Personal Information records.
• Only the Personal Information entity is updated with the new and previous employment information, while the expected historical record structure is not maintained.
• Customers may observe incorrect or updated effective-dated Personal Information history after the submission of New Hire Data Review.

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

• If the PerPersonal Upsert is not triggered during onboarding initiation, the existing Personal Information record is updated with the new effective start date.
• This is currently the expected system behavior.
• In this scenario, only the Personal Information entity is updated to reflect the new and previous employment records.

• To ensure that historical Personal Information is retained correctly, customers are advised to upsert the PerPersonal entity during onboarding initiation.
• As an additional safeguard, a guardrail will be introduced in the 2H 2026 Release.
• Going forward, onboarding initiation will fail if the required Personal Information is not upserted at the time of initiation.
• This will help prevent the loss or incorrect update of historical Personal Information.

NOTE: The previous employment records are also copied to the new employment only for personal information entity.
