3800995 - Period opened in Consolidation Monitor not reflected in Data Monitor

Symptom

  • A period is opened using Open/Close Periods in the Consolidation Monitor (New Version), app F7271.
  • The period is displayed as Open in the Consolidation Monitor.
  • When the Data Monitor is opened with the same version and period, the period remains Closed.
  • Refreshing the Data Monitor does not change the period status.

 

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open Consolidation Monitor (New Version).
  2. Select the relevant version and process year period.
  3. Choose Open/Close Periods.
  4. Select a consolidation group with period status Closed.
  5. Set the period to Open and confirm.
  6. Verify that the Consolidation Monitor shows the period as Open.
  7. Open the Data Monitor using the corresponding global parameters.
  8. Refresh the Data Monitor.

The period remains Closed in the Data Monitor.

Cause

This is the expected system behavior.

The Data Monitor and Consolidation Monitor can have different period statuses depending on where the period opening or closing action is performed.

The documented behavior is:

Therefore, opening a closed period from the Consolidation Monitor changes the Consolidation Monitor status but does not open the period in the Data Monitor.

Resolution

If the period needs to be opened in both the Data Monitor and Consolidation Monitor, perform Open Period from the Data Monitor.

Opening the period from the Data Monitor results in the period being open in both monitors.

  1. Open the Data Monitor app
  2. Right-click on the consolidation group or consolidation unit
  3. Select Open Period
