3801947 - Post Asset Revaluation app does not show 8J1/8J2 for Japan asset impairment — SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

In the Post Asset Revaluation Fiori app (SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition, release 2608 and later), transaction types 8J1 (JP: Impairment Rev. Prior Year) and 8J2 (JP: Impairment Rev. Current Year) are not available for selection.

Only standard revaluation transaction types (e.g., 892, 893) are displayed in the app.

Under Japanese accounting standards, asset impairment and asset revaluation are different accounting treatments, so this behavior may appear unexpected.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Post Asset Revaluation app.
2. Navigate to select a business transaction type for an impairment posting.
3. Observe that only revaluation transaction types (for example, 892) are available and 8J1/8J2 are not offered.

Transaction types 8J1 and 8J2 were introduced as a temporary interim solution for Japan asset impairment postings, intended for use before the "Post Asset Revaluation" app was officially released.

Starting from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2608, the "Post Asset Revaluation" app is the standard and recommended method for Japan impairment postings. As part of this change, 8J1 and 8J2 are no longer applicable.

The absence of 8J1 and 8J2 in the app is therefore expected behavior from release 2608 onward.

1. To post Japan asset impairment from release 2608 onward:

   Step 1: Update the depreciation key on the relevant fixed assets to one of the impairment-specific keys:

   IDB, IDM, ILT, ILI, JIDB, JIDM, JILT, JILI

   Step 2: Use the following standard transaction types in the Post Asset Revaluation app:

   Transaction Type	Description	Use For
   892	Revaluation (Downward) – Current Year	Current year impairment
   893	Revaluation (Downward) – Prior Year	Prior year impairment
   891	Revaluation (Upward) – Prior Year	Prior year reversal
   897	Revaluation (Upward) – Current Year	Current year reversal
