3802035 - Originator view of compensation form does not reflect added, moved, or deleted employees

Symptom

  • When an employee is added, moved, or deleted from a Compensation form, the change is not be immediately reflected when the Originator accesses the form from All Forms.
  • The updated employee information is visible in Executive Review.
  • Updating or refreshing the worksheet does not make the change visible to the originator on the form.
  • For example:

    • A Compensation Planner adds an employee to a Compensation form.
    • The newly added employee is visible when accessing the live/in-progress form.
    • However, when the Originator accesses the same form through All Forms, the employee may not be displayed.
    • The updated employee information is visible in Executive Review.

This may give the impression that the employee change was not successfully applied.

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open a Compensation form that is currently in progress for an employee.
  2. Add, move, or delete an employee from the form.
  3. Access the updated/live form from the inbox of the user who currently has the form in progress.
  4. Verify that the employee change is reflected.
  5. Access the form from All Forms as the Originator or any other employee from the previous steps.
  6. Compare the employee list displayed in All Forms with the live/in-progress form.
  7. Access Executive Review and compare the employee list.
  8. The employee change is reflected in the live/in-progress form and Executive Review, while the version displayed under All Forms may still show the employee list as it existed previously.

Cause

  • This is expected system behavior and part of the standard system design.

The form displayed under All Forms represents the version of the Compensation form that was associated with the respective employee in their inbox before the employee was moved or the form structure was subsequently changed.

When an employee is added, moved, or deleted, the changes are reflected in the current/live version of the form. Therefore, the updated employee information is available in:

    • The inbox of the user who currently has the live/in-progress form.
    • Executive Review, where the most current employee/form information is displayed.

The version accessed through All Forms may continue to represent the earlier state of the form and therefore may not contain subsequent employee changes.

Resolution

  1. No system correction or configuration change is required, as this is the expected behavior by design.

To view the most up-to-date version of the Compensation form and its employee list, use one of the following options:

    • Live/In-Progress Form: Open the form from the inbox of the user who currently owns/has the form in progress. This version reflects the latest employee changes.
    • Executive Review: Use Executive Review to view the latest employee/form information across the Compensation cycle.
    • Move the form back to the previous step: If the business process allows, moving the form back to the previous workflow step will cause the updated employee information to be reflected when the form is available again in the relevant user's inbox.

The All Forms view may continue to display the earlier version of the form and should therefore not be used to validate whether a subsequent employee addition, movement, or deletion has been applied to the current/live version of the form.

    Example

If Employee A has a Compensation form in progress and Employee B is subsequently added to the form:

    View/Action

    Expected Result

    Live/In-Progress Form

    Employee B is displayed

    Executive Review

    Employee B is displayed

    All Forms

The earlier version of the form may be displayed, without Employee B

Move form back to previous step

The updated employee information will be reflected when the form is available again in the relevant user's inbox

Therefore, seeing different employee lists between All Forms and the live/in-progress form is expected and does not indicate that the employee change failed.
