Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the app Reprocess Bank Statement Items.

- Choose tab "Post to GL Account" to clear the item.
- Click Post (or Simulate).
- However the balance is 0, observe that error message is raised.

The accounts for posting the exchange rate differences could not be determined. For the specified G/L account and the specified currency key, no corresponding exchange rate difference gain/loss accounts were determined in Automatic Account Determination (Configuration Activity 100297).
Resolution
- Open configuration activity Automatic Account Determination (Activity 100297).
- Navigate to Financial Accounting > General Ledger Accounting > Define Accounts for Exchange Rate Differences, and select the relevant parameters (KWA > KDF) with your chart of accounts.
- In 'Exchange Rate Difference Realized', maintain both gain and loss accounts for the affected G/L account for each relevant currency used in bank statement postings (maintain per currency, not only the company code currency).
- Save the configuration.
- Reprocess the bank statement item in the Reprocess Bank Statement Items app and post again.
- If needed, review tolerance settings in: 'Define Tolerances for Customers and Suppliers' (Activity 102923) and in 'Define Tolerance Groups for G/L Accounts' (Activity 102323).
