Symptom
Configurable Parameters and Formulas (CPF) decision table results are not applied even though the document data fully meet the conditions configured in the CPF decision table, with the issue occurring in the Test or Production system but not in the Development system of a 3-system landscape.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Cause
The same CPF formula was modified multiple times, and the changes were distributed across multiple customizing requests. However, only some of those requests were transported to the target system, leaving the configuration in an inconsistent state.
The following table illustrates a typical example of this inconsistency:
| Dialog Name | Customizing Request | Transported to Target System? |
| Assign Formula Parameters | Request 1 | No |
| Assign Parameter Priority | Request 2 | Yes |
| Define Decision Table | Request 3 | Yes |
As a result, in the target system, a parameter exists in Assign Parameter Priority but is absent from Assign Formula Parameters. The system logic first looks up the parameter in Assign Formula Parameters; if it is not found there, the decision table lookup fails and no result is returned.
Resolution
Follow the steps below to ensure that all related CPF configuration changes are captured and transported consistently
- Keep related changes in one request: All modifications to the same CPF formula (Assign Formula Parameters, Assign Parameter Priority, Define Decision Table) must be captured in a single customizing request.
- Verify after transport: After importing to the target system, check the CPF formula to confirm all expected parameters are present before running any tests.
