3802386 - HTTP 500 when acknowledging receipt of incoming eDocuments in Manage Electronic Documents -SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

  • In Manage Electronic Documents, incoming eInvoices received via Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC) arrive in Draft status and require “Acknowledge Receipt of eDocument” before Accept/Reject can be performed.
  • When “Acknowledge Receipt of eDocument” is performed, the document remains in Draft and further actions are blocked.
  • Error displayed: A technical error occurred. Try again later. { "message": "HTTP request failed", "headers": [], "statusCode": 500, "statusText": "", "responseText": "0050569259751EE4BA9710043F8A511511 In the context of Data Services an unknown internal server error occurred" }

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
  • SAP Document and Reporting Edition, Cloud Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Manage Electronic Documents app.
  2. Locate an incoming eInvoice received through Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC).
  3. Open the eDocument and observe it is in Draft status.
  4. Select “Acknowledge Receipt of eDocument”.
  5. Observe the error: A technical error occurred. Try again later. { "message": "HTTP request failed", "headers": [], "statusCode": 500, "statusText": "", "responseText": "0050569259751EE4BA9710043F8A511511 In the context of Data Services an unknown internal server error occurred" }.

Cause

  • For France B2B inbound e-invoicing, manual acknowledgment of receipt (status CDAR_204) is by design and is required before Accept/Reject become available.
  • The HTTP 500 indicates a backend/internal failure when posting the CDAR_204 lifecycle update from DRC Cloud to the backend. Common causes include:
  • Missing or misconfigured entries in Configuration Activity ID 107322 (Activate Reason Codes for Supplier Invoice Actions).
  • Misconfigured or invalid BTP destination (region/credentials) used by DRC Cloud to communicate with the backend.
  • Details are typically available in the EDOC_COCKPIT Application Log.

Resolution

  1. Acknowledgment of receipt is mandatory in the France inbound flow and is not automatic.
  2. Validate Configuration Activity ID 107322 (Activate Reason Codes for Supplier Invoice Actions): Ensure action and reason codes are correctly mapped for Acknowledge, Accept, and Reject.
  3. Verify the BTP destination used by DRC Cloud to update the backend: Confirm the destination points to the correct tenant, uses valid credentials, and is set in the required region for France (EU02).
  4. Review EDOC_COCKPIT → Go to → Application Log for the failed attempt to identify the specific ABAP/integration exception and correct per the log details.
  5. Re-test “Acknowledge Receipt of eDocument”. If successful, proceed with Accept/Reject as required.
