3802405 - "Convert to Purchase Requisition" proposed by default for Procurement Type E material in 'Manage Planned Orders' App (F4170)

When converting a planned order using 'Manage Planned Orders' App (ID F4170) for a material with Procurement Type E (In-house production), the system proposes the following default conversion option:

• "Convert to Purchase Requisition"

Additionally, the system displays the warning message in the conversion dialog:

• Material <Material_ID> is intended for in-house production

The expected option "Convert to Production Order" is not pre-selected.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the 'Manage Planned Orders' App (ID F4170).
2. Select a planned order for a material that is maintained with procurement type E – in-house production.
3. Start the conversion dialog.
4. Observe the default proposal shows 'Convert to Purchase Requisition'.

The standard logic allows converting planned orders for in-house produced materials (Type E) into Purchase Requisitions if the Purchasing views/data are maintained in the Material Master. This serves as an intentional fallback option for scenarios where temporary external procurement or outsourcing is required. Because Purchasing data is maintained for material S_01D118S31, the application enables the "Convert to Purchase Requisition" option.

The app validates master data requirements before attempting conversion.

If prerequisites for in-house production (such as a valid Production Version) are missing or incomplete, the UI deselects or hides "Convert to Production Order" to prevent execution errors.

Consequently, the app defaults to "Convert to Purchase Requisition" as the primary valid path and issues the warning message shown in your screenshot:

The system explicitly recognizes that the material is intended for in-house production, but defaults to Purchase Requisition due to the underlying master data state and available procurement options.

To be able to convert to a Production Order directly, you can manually select the "Convert to Production Order" radio button in the conversion dialog.
