3802755 - Serial Numbers Not Displayed in Serial Inventory Overview

After completing the inbound process for serial numbers at a site, the stock quantity is updated in Stock Overview, but the serial numbers are not displayed in Serial Inventory Overview.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to Outbound Logistics work center.
2. Open Serial Inventory Overview under Common Tasks.
3. Search for product ABC.
4. There are No records are found.
5. Open Stock Overview under Common Tasks.
6. Search for product ABC.
7. On-hand stock is available.

 (ABC represents Product ID)

• The Serial Number Profile for the product is set to “Mandatory on Transfer to/from Customers and Suppliers” in product master data. 
• With this serial number profile, the system tracks serial numbers only for logistics processes involving transfers to or from customers and suppliers. It does not enable serial number tracking for internal inventory processes.
• Therefore, when the inbound process is completed, the stock is created as non-serialized inventory. As a result, the stock is displayed in the Stock Overview rather than in the Serial Inventory Overview.

This is the expected system behavior for the selected Serial Number Profile. 

If serial numbers need to be tracked within inventory after the inbound process, maintain the Serial Number Profile for the product as: “Mandatory on all Logistics and Production Processes.”

Follow the steps below to change the Serial Number Profile:

1. Go to Product Portfolio work center.
2. Go to By Materials subview under Products view.
3. Search for Product ABC.
4. Choose Edit.
5. Select View All.
6. In General tab, maintain the Serial Number Profile as “Mandatory on all Logistics and Production Processes.”
7. Choose Save.
