Symptom
No dataset or table can be shown after choosing the Google Big Query as the source even the Connection validation tells 'Data Flows are enabled'.
Even delete driver -> upload driver -> Sync cannot solve the issue:
As a comparing, if creating a Replication Flow and choose the same connection, there's dataset returned.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP Datasphere
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Data Builder in the target space.
- Create a new Data Flow.
- In Sources, expand Connections.
- Select the Google BigQuery connection and choose Import.
- Observe that no datasets or tables appear on the right side although they exist in BigQuery.
Cause
By default, SAP Datasphere connects to BigQuery datasets only from Google's default location - US.
If the customer's datasets are located in a non-US region (e.g., EU), the Location parameter in the BigQuery connection must be configured to match the actual dataset region; otherwise, Data Builder will not list any datasets or tables.
With the below configuration - EMPTY location, no dataset will be returned:
Resolution
Enter the relevant BigQuery region(s) or multi-region(s) as a comma-separated list (for example: EU, us-west1, asia-east1).
Note: By default or leaving it as EMPTY, only datasets in Google’s default location (US) are listed; additional locations must be specified here based on customer's actual region.
