3803038 - Field change rule does not run for manual overall competency rating; updates only on save – SAP SuccessFactors Performance & Goals

In Performance Management forms at the Manager Assessment step, a rule using “Goal Competency Summary section > Manual Overall Competency Rating” to update “Summary section > Manual Overall Rating” does not run on field change; it only takes effect after saving, and the custom comment field stays hidden until save.

SAP SuccessFactors Performance Management

1. Open a Performance form at the Manager Assessment step.
2. Scenario: Change “Goal Competency Summary section > Manual Overall Competency Rating”. Observe “Summary section > Manual Overall Rating” does not update immediately and the related custom comment field remains hidden until the form is saved.

For OCOC sections that enabled the option: Display the overall objective / competency matrix turned on, any updates to manual overall competency/objective rating within OCOC will trigger an automatic full‑form save. Therefore, when assigning rules in Talent, do not assign manual rating fields to the Field Change trigger. Instead, enable the Form Saving trigger and Form Opening trigger directly.

With the option: Display the overall objective / competency matrix is disabled, Manual Overall Competency rating can be assigned to the Field Change trigger. However, this scenario contains a defect in now b2605 version. We have implemented a fix scheduled for the 2611 release.

Starting from 2611, the scenario updating Manual Overall Competency rating will be triggered immediately once manual overall competency rating gets updated.
