3803111 - Filter editing disabled in Excel add-in when opening from the SAC story or data analyzer (SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office)

Symptom

  • Using the "Open with excel add-in" option from a web story or data analyzer, you will notice some filters in the Excel add-in designer panel are disabled (not editable).
  • Warning:
    • The table Table1 contains complex filters created in SAP Analytics Cloud. The filters are applied in the table in Excel but can’t be displayed and maintained with the add-in.
    • The table Table1 contains the setting 'Show Leaves Only' in at least one filter, created in SAP Analytics Cloud. The filters are applied in the table in Excel but can’t be displayed and maintained with the add-in.
    • The table Table1 contains filter by measures value created in SAP Analytics Cloud. The filters are applied in the table in Excel but can’t be maintained with the add-in.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.15.8;
  • SAP Analytics Cloud, add-in for Microsoft Office

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open the Excel add-in from a story table using "Open with excel add-in".
  2. Observe the warning.

Cause

Unsupported filters in Excel Add-in:

  1. Filter with unsupported operators:
    • Greater Than
    • Greater Than or Equal To
    • Less Than or Equal To
    • Less Than
    • Contains
    • Begins with
  2. Story/Page Filter on Measure
  3. Advanced Filters
  4. Dynamic Time Filters
  5. Filter on a custom date dimension
  6. Different hierarchies across Filter levels 
    • For example, for the same dimension, on Story Filter the filter is set with hierarchy H1, and on Table Filter it is set with hierarchy H2.
    • Make sure the hierarchies are consistent.
  7. Different selections across Filter levels
    • For example, for the same dimension, on Story Filter the filter is set with selection A, and on Table Filter it is set with selection B.
    • Make sure the selections are consistent.
  8. Filter with Show only leaves in Widgets enabled on dimension hierarchy
    • Manually set the selection type for each selected node to "Select Leaf Members Only" in Excel Add-in. 

Resolution

Please kindly adjust or recreate the disabled filters.

The development team is working on improving the feature.
