3803242 - Replication Flow deployment fails with projection and mapping error (NETPR, NETWR) when using C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX with SAP_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS, Datasphere

Symptom

  • Replication Flow fails during deployment.
  • The Replication Flow is loading data from SAP S/4HANA to SAP Datasphere, with source Standard CDS view C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX and target Local Table SAP_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS installed from Business Content.
  • Error: “A projection and mapping is required” while mapping fields NETPR and NETWR.
  • Deployment message: “RF_S4H_PurchaseOrderLineItems_VLY deployment failed.”
  • Error creating replication for dataset.
  • “C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX: table”
  • “SAPI_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS component columns is empty”

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Activate the Business Content package “Business Network – Value Analytics”.
  2. Create a Replication Flow targeting a standard Datasphere local table from this content.
  3. Select source: standard CDS view C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX.
  4. Select target: local table SAP_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS from the content.
  5. Save and deploy the Replication Flow.
  6. Observe the deployment failure with projection/mapping errors for NETPR and NETWR.

Cause

  • The “Business Network – Value Analytics” content is not designed as a 1:1 replica of SAP S/4HANA purchasing CDS views; SAP_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS is not a direct replication of C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX.
  • Resulting schema and data type mismatches (for example NETPR and NETWR) lead to projection and mapping errors during deployment.

Resolution

Please note that this package does not contain a configured data connection to a source system. SAP Consulting should be contacted for the activation services of the content package (See Content Activation Services).

With respect to the package design the content package SAP Business Networks - Value Analytics is not a generic purchasing content package and was not designed as standard content for SAP S/4HANA purchasing. Instead, the package is focused on procurement performance metrics such as Lead Time and On Time In Full (OTIF) and provides a data model optimized for these business KPIs.
 
While SAP S/4HANA can be used as a source system, the package is not specifically built around SAP S/4HANA purchasing CDS views, nor does it provide a one-to-one mapping to standard purchasing extractors.
 
As an example, the local table SAP_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS is not a direct replication of the CDS view C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX. Consequently, C_PURCHASEORDERITEMDEX is not documented as the direct source of SAP_VLY_IL_PO_ITEMS. The same principle applies to the overall package design.
 
If your use case requires a direct alignment with the SAP S/4HANA purchasing data model or standard purchasing extractors, an additional integration or mapping layer will need to be implemented as part of the implementation project.
