3803359 - Activity Type not populated in CDS view I_PRODUCTCOSTESTIMATEITEM for material items – SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

• In CDS view I_PRODUCTCOSTESTIMATEITEM, the Activity Type field is blank while an activity type is maintained in the resource and routing/recipe.
• Column TOTALAMOUNTINCOCODECRCY shows a value.
• The activity type is not visible in the table output as expected by the user.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open CDS view I_PRODUCTCOSTESTIMATEITEM.
2. Observe that the Activity Type field is blank.
3. Observe that the column TOTALAMOUNTINCOCODECRCY has a value.

• The displayed items are material items (Item Category “M”), not internal activity items. For material items, the Activity Type field is not populated by design.
• The Activity Type is only populated for internal activity items (Item Category “E”).
• In product costing, item category is derived from BOM components (M) and routing/master recipe operations and activity types (E); it cannot be manually changed.

1. Verify the item category in the cost estimate itemization for the affected records in I_PRODUCTCOSTESTIMATEITEM.
2. If the item category is “M”, note this is standard behavior: Activity Type is not populated for material items.
3. To have Activity Type populated, ensure the cost estimate generates internal activity items (item category “E”) by including an active routing/master recipe with operations that reference activity types.
4. Run the costing (costing run or single cost estimate) with the relevant master data so that itemization includes internal activities.
5. Recheck I_PRODUCTCOSTESTIMATEITEM and filter for item category “E”; the Activity Type should be populated for those items.
