3803606 - Import/export of objects in Manage Job Profile Content fails with "You do not have the necessary permission" error

Symptom

  • In Manage Job Profile Content Import/Export, attempts to import/export any objects fails with error.
  • Error displayed: "You do not have the necessary permission to export the objects (xxx) included in the zip file package."
  • The export job produces a file named "no_permission.csv" containing the error.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Manage Job Profile Content > Import/Export.
  2. Select Role (or another object) and try to download.
  3. Open Schedule Job Manager and check the MDF export job status.
  4. Open the job details and download the output file.
  5. Observe the file name "no_permission.csv".
  6. Open the file to see the permission error message.

Cause

"Access to non-secured objects" permission is missing in Role-Based Permissions.

Resolution

  1. Open Admin Center and go to Manage Permission Roles.
  2. Edit the permission role assigned to the user performing import/export.
  3. In the Metadata Framework section, enable the permission "Access to non-secured objects" (previously named "Read/Write Permission on Metadata Framework").
  4. Save the permission role.
  5. Ensure the role is assigned to the intended user or permission group.
  6. Retry the import/export from Manage Job Profile Content > Import/Export.
  7. If the issue persists, review the expected behavior for MDF Import/Export and verify object security settings per the documentation in See also.
