3803969 - Depreciation not recalculated after correcting depreciation calculation start date; expired useful life not updated — SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

For migrated legacy Assets the following statements are valid:

• After correcting the Depreciation Calculation Start Date in the asset, planned depreciation amounts do not change.
• Depreciation simulation continues to show the same values as before the date correction.
• Expired Useful Life Years/Periods/Days are not updated in the asset data.
• Remaining useful life is not recalculated based on the updated start date.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Create an asset.
2. Migrate opening balances with an incorrect Depreciation Calculation Start Date using the migration tool.
3. Run a depreciation simulation and observe the planned values.
4. Change the Depreciation Calculation Start Date in the asset.
5. Save and simulate/display depreciation again.
6. Observe that planned depreciation and expired useful life fields remain unchanged.

• The asset was migrated with an incorrect Depreciation Calculation Start Date. Expired useful life values were stored based on that incorrect date during migration.
• Updating the Depreciation Calculation Start Date in the asset does not immediately recalculate depreciation or expired useful life fields. By standard behavior, these are refreshed by running the Recalculate Depreciation job or during Balance Carryforward at fiscal year change.

1. Confirm the Depreciation Calculation Start Date is corrected in the asset master.
2. Run the Recalculate Depreciation job in the Schedule Asset Accounting Jobs app for the affected company code(s) and assets to refresh calculation segments and planned depreciation.
3. Verify the recalculated planned values in the Manage Fixed Assets app; confirm that the schedule reflects the corrected start date and remaining useful life.
4. If the Expired Useful Life Years/Periods/Days fields need to be refreshed at fiscal year change, schedule and complete the Balance Carryforward job for the relevant company code(s).
5. After validation, continue with the regular periodic depreciation posting.
