Symptom
When using the "Deduct Group from Input Groups" valuation, you receive an unexpected result if the deduction group contains overlapping absences and attendances
Environment
- Employee Central Timesheet
- Time Tracking
Reproducing the Issue
- Configure a "Deduct Group from Input Groups" valuation
- The deduction group contains absences and attendances
- Enable the Absence and Attendance collision logic
- Enter overlapping attendances and absences in the timesheet
- The result of the "Deduct Group from Input Groups" valuation using these times does not generate the expected result
Cause
System limitation
Resolution
Using a deduction group containing both absences and attendances can cause unexpected results.
As a workaround, you can instead have 2 separate time valuations where the first deducts the attendances and the second the absences
Valuation 1
Valuation type: Deduct Group from Input Groups
Input Group: Time type groups you wish to deduct from
Deduction Group: Attendances
Above Group: Input - Attendance
Valuation 2
Valuation type: Deduct Group from Input Groups
Input Group: Valuation 1 Above group
Deduction Group: Absences
Above Group: Input - Attendance - Absence
