Symptom
When processing a rehire with a new employment, the system generates mismatched values between the Employee ID and User ID, rather than maintaining consistency with the original identifiers from the employee's previous employment.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding
Reproducing the Issue
Rehire an employee with a new employment record and observe that the system assigns a different Employee ID from the User ID.
Cause
Expected behavior for rehire with new employment.
Resolution
- For rehire with new employment, personal entities in Employee Central (such as National ID, Person ID, and Employee ID) continue from the previous employment.
- The system creates new identifiers for the new employment, so User ID and Employment ID are generated again and can differ from those in the previous employment.
- The employee profile will contain separate records for the previous and the new employment; no corrective action is required.
