3805109 - Why is my supplier able to confirm a quantity outside my tolerance settings without receiving an error in SAP Business Network?

Symptom

I have the following configuration in SAP Business Network:

  • order confirmation (OC) quantity tolerances set to -0% / +5%
  • Rule "Allow suppliers to send order confirmations that do not comply with defined tolerances and require buyer approval" enabled for quantities
  • A purchase order (PO) created for 100 PCS

I expect the following behavior when the supplier creates the OC:

  • 100 PCS confirmed → automatically accepted, no buyer intervention required
  • 101–105 PCS confirmed → goes into approval flow; buyer can accept or reject the deviation
  • 106 PCS or more confirmed → supplier receives an error, as the quantity is outside the defined tolerance

However, the actual behavior does not match these expectations. Suppliers can confirm quantities well above the tolerance threshold (for example, 3,106 PCS) without receiving an error, and the OC enters the approval flow regardless of how far the quantity deviates.
