Symptom
When creating a Service Order as a follow-up from a Service Request, the Processor is not copied to the Service Order and remains blank.
The following error is displayed:
"Party with role Processor missing; maintain in Involved Parties tab"
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Service Desk work center.
- Navigate to the Service Requests view.
- Open Service Request AAA (AAA represents the Service Request ID) and verify that the Processor is maintained.
- From the Service Request, click Follow-Up and select Service Order.
- A new Service Order is generated.
- In the Service Order, observe that the Processor is blank and the error "Party with role Processor missing; maintain in Involved Parties tab" is displayed.
Cause
The party role Processor is configured as Mandatory in the party role assignment for the Involved parties of Service Order.
However, all configurable determination steps for the Processor party role under Involved Parties for Service Orders are inactive in Business Configuration. Therefore, no Processor is determined automatically in the Service Order.
The Processor can only be determined based on the active determination steps configured for the party role.
Resolution
There are two possible ways to resolve the issue:
Option 1: Manually maintain the Processor
Manually maintain the party role Processor in the Involved Parties tab of the Service Order (or) In General tab under Main information.
Option 2: Activate Processor determination
If the Processor needs to be determined automatically, activate the required determination steps for the Processor party role in the Involved Parties for Service Orders activity.
Follow these steps:
- Go to the Business Configuration work center.
- Navigate to the Implementation Projects view.
- Select the relevant project and click Open Activity List.
- Go to the Fine-Tune tab.
- Open the activity Involved Parties for Service Orders.
- Select the party role Processor and click Maintain Determinations.
- Based on the business requirement, activate the required determination steps:
- Step 10: Direct Responsible of Account
- Step 20: Responsibility "Processor for Service Orders"
- Step 30: Logged on User
- Click OK.
- Click Save.
