3805316 - Error "The Acquisition Value is Negative in Valuation Area 16" During WBS Settlement — SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

An error occurs while performing WBS settlement: "The acquisition value is negative in valuation area 16, therefore it is not possible to settle the specified WBS element."

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

1. Open the Run Settlement app.
2. Execute settlement for a WBS element whose assigned Asset under Construction (AuC) has a negative acquisition value in a depreciation area.
3. The following error message is displayed: "The acquisition value is negative in valuation area 16, therefore it is not possible to settle the specified WBS element."

The AuC asset does not have the Negative Values Allowed indicator active in the asset master. When acquisition values are negative (e.g., due to credit memos or reversals), settlement is blocked unless this indicator is explicitly enabled.

1. Open the Manage Fixed Assets app.
2. Navigate to the affected AuC asset.
3. Go to the Depreciation Areas tab.
4. For the relevant depreciation area, activate the Negative Values Allowed indicator.
5. Save the asset master record.
6. Rerun settlement in the Run Settlement app and confirm the error is resolved.
