3805861 - Event reason in Time Off workflow emails uses sender locale when object label translations are missing

Symptom

In Time Off workflow email notifications, the [[EVENT_REASON]] text shows the object label in a different language than the rest of the email.

When initiator and recipient use different locales, the email body follows the recipient’s locale, but the [[EVENT_REASON]] part (for the Employee Time object) follows the initiator/sender’s locale if translations are not maintained.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Time Off

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Ensure no translations are maintained for the Employee Time object label in Configure Object Definitions.
  2. Have a user with locale A request Time Off so that a workflow email is sent to an approver with locale B.
  3. Approve the request with the approver (locale B) and observe the approval email: the email is in locale B, but [[EVENT_REASON]] shows the Employee Time label in locale A.
  4. Observe the completion/CC email to the requester: the email is in locale A, but [[EVENT_REASON]] shows the Employee Time label in locale B.

Cause

  • By current design, if translations for the Employee Time object label are not maintained, the system derives the label used in [[EVENT_REASON]] from the sender’s locale (initiator/approver), not the recipient’s locale.

Resolution

Maintain the translations for the Employee Time object label (in Configure Object Definition) for all the required locales.
