Symptom
When simulating a Journal Entry Voucher using Journal Entry Type 00083 – Manual Entry for Cash and Screen Variant 636 – Manual Write-Up/Write-Down for Cash, system raises the following error: "Company and transaction currency are equal; amounts should also be equal."
The error occurs when the journal entry contains bank G/L account lines for bank accounts maintained in foreign currencies, while the Transaction Currency defaults to the Company Currency.

The following error message is displayed:
"Company and transaction currency are equal; amounts should also be equal."
Cause
The Transaction Currency of the journal entry voucher is automatically set to the Company Currency and cannot be changed.
At the same time, the journal entry voucher uses bank accounts with different currencies for different G/L account lines. These bank accounts have the same Bank Account Number but are maintained with different currencies.
Because the journal entry voucher has only one Transaction Currency, while the selected bank account lines refer to different currencies, the currency information cannot be aligned for all bank account lines. Therefore, when the journal entry voucher is simulated, system raises this error.
Resolution
This is the expected system behavior. To avoid the error, proceed as follows:
- Do not use bank accounts with different currencies in the same journal entry voucher when the Transaction Currency is equal to the Company Currency.
- If postings are required for bank accounts with different currencies, create a separate journal entry voucher for each currency.
