3806155 - BDC-Snowflake Zerocopy Connector rejects external Iceberg tables not using Snowflake-managed storage

Symptom

  • Publishing or sharing an Iceberg table from an external Snowflake environment to SAP Business Data Cloud via the Zerocopy Connector fails when the table uses external (non-Snowflake-managed) storage.
  • Error message:

“Object is not eligible for Zerocopy Connector associated share: Iceberg table '' does not use Snowflake-managed storage. Use 'CREATE ICEBERG TABLE ... EXTERNAL_VOLUME = SNOWFLAKE_MANAGED' for Snowflake-managed storage.”

  • Changing the Iceberg version (for example: to Iceberg V3) does not remove the storage-location restriction.
