3806208 - ApplicationPermission Security Access Violation for external URL in SAP GUI for Java

Symptom

  • Clicking a button or link in an SAP transaction that attempts to open an external URL raises a Security Access Violation in SAP GUI for Java
  • Error message displayed: `Permission to start external process [URL] has been denied`
  • Java exception in trace/console:`java.security.AccessControlException: access denied ('com.sap.platin.base.security.ApplicationPermission' 'https://[external-host]/...')`
  • The error occurs regardless of which trust level is assigned to the system — all pre-delivered trust levels (including Productive / Fully Trusted) result in access denied
  • The same action works correctly on Windows but fails on macOS (MacBook)
  • No browser window, popup, or external URL is opened after clicking the button.
