Symptom
- The system does not allow creating additional outbound deliveries once the sales order open delivery quantity is fully consumed.
- The delivery item is deleted during creation because the available delivery quantity is zero.
- Error message: "An item with no delivery quantity is not permitted. Item will be deleted." (VL367)
- Overdelivery tolerance for the sales order item is set, user wants multiple deliveries whose cumulative quantity exceeds the sales order quantity without changing the sales order.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a sales order item with a fixed ordered quantity.
- Create one or more outbound deliveries referencing the sales order item until its open delivery quantity becomes zero.
- Attempt to create another outbound delivery for the same sales order item (for example, using Create Outbound Delivery – With Order Reference).
- Observe that the system deletes the item and issues message VL367.
Cause
The delivery item category is configured to disallow zero-quantity items; therefore, when no open delivery quantity remains, the system removes the reference item with message VL367 during delivery creation.
Resolution
- Open the configuration activity SSCUI 102974 – Define Delivery Item Categories.
- Identify the relevant delivery item category used.
- Adjust the setting for “Quantity 0” to allow creation of a delivery item with zero quantity.
- Save the configuration.
- Retry creating the outbound delivery; the system will allow the delivery item to be created with zero quantity.
- Manually enter the required quantity in the delivery, ensuring it is within the defined overdelivery tolerance for the sales order item.
