Symptom
- The maximum number of line items supported in a sales order needs to be determined.
- The system does not allow the creation of a sales order with more than 999 line items.
- No error message is displayed when the number of line items exceeds 999.
Environment
S/4HANA Public Cloud Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Create a sales order.
- Attempt to add more than 999 line items to the sales order.
- Observe that the system does not allow more than 999 line items to be added, and no error message is displayed.
Cause
Standard system behavior: A sales order supports a maximum of 999 line items per document.
Resolution
- Ensure that the sales order contains no more than 999 line items, as this is the standard system limit per document.
- If more than 999 line items are required, split the items across multiple sales orders.
- Avoid creating very large sales orders, as they may cause issues during output processing and when canceling the documents.
