3806891 - Unable to Change Service Order Statuses without ERP Integration - SAP Service Cloud Version 2

Symptom

You are working with Service Orders in the SAP Service Cloud Version 2, but the integration with S/4 HANA is not implemented, and the statuses of the Service Order e.g. Status, User Status and Credit Status cannot be changed in V2.

Environment

SAP Service Cloud Version 2

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Logon to the SAP Service Cloud Version 2 environment.
  2. Navigate to the Service Orders work list.
  3. Open any Service Order with status Open or In Process.
  4. In the header, go to the Status section.
  5. Observe that Status, User Status and Credit Status are not editable.

Cause

This is the system standard behavior, as it considers:

  • Status: After creation, the status is Open. On replication to an external system, it changes to In Process. Based on execution, it can change to Released or Completed in the external system. Cancelling the Service Order in V2 changes it to Completed.
  • User status: Updated only from the external system after replication.
  • Credit status: Updated from the external system.

Resolution

  • Note that in standard, Service Order statuses (life cycle, user, credit) are controlled by the external ERP system and are not manually editable in V2 without integration.
  • To manage statuses, set up integration with the external ERP/SAP S/4HANA system so statuses are updated upon replication and subsequent processing.
