Symptom
Managers can set past dates for assignment and required dates when assigning items to subordinates
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
- Access Team View >
- Access "Manage assignments" >
- Select user an item >
- Change "Assignment Date" and "Require Date" fields to a date in the past >
- Submit assignment >
- Assignment is performed without errors
Cause
The system allows for managers to select past date for required and assignment dates when assigning items to their subordinates, in the same way that administrators are able to perform these actions for users.
This action is allowed for auditing purposes, which sometimes require the retroactive assignment of items to record them in the user Learning Plan.
Resolution
Currently, there is no way to limit managers from performing assignments only for future or present dates without impacting their permissions to manage user assignments. If you would like to have this functionality included in a future release, you can create an enhancement request as explained in the KBA 2090228 - How to Submit Enhancement Requests for SAP SuccessFactors Products. All enhancement requests are reviewed by our Product Management team and, if successful, are developed and implemented in a future product release.
