3806966 - Defer or handle I-9 compliance for Global Assignment without starting Onboarding — SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

• Users need to start Global Assignment but required compliance documents (for example, I-9) are not yet available at the time of creation.
• Users want to start compliance tasks at a later stage or handle compliance independently without initiating Onboarding.
• No error message is generated.

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

1. Create a Global Assignment for a worker whose compliance documents (for example, I-9) are not available at creation time.
2. Attempt to configure Onboarding to pause or defer compliance tasks until a later date or external event.
3. Observe that compliance is started as part of the initial Onboarding start and there is no configuration to pause, wait, or restart later.

Product limitation: Standard configuration does not provide a way to pause or defer the compliance step, nor to place it in a time-based or event-based waiting state within the same Onboarding instance.

1. Acknowledge the limitation: compliance is started as part of the initial Onboarding start and cannot be paused or restarted later through standard configuration.
2. Handle compliance outside Onboarding for Global Assignment when needed:
3. Collect required compliance forms and signatures externally (for example, local HR process or an external e-signature tool).
4.  Store completed documents and track completion in Employee Central (for example, profile attachments, custom/MDF fields, or EC workflows) without starting an Onboarding process.
5. If deferred compliance within Onboarding is a required feature, submit an enhancement request via the Influence program (refer to links  2090228 - How to submit enhancement ideas for SAP SuccessFactors Product - SAP for Me ).
