Symptom
- When editing a product in the Manage Product Master Data app and canceling/discarding the changes without updating the draft, an error occurs and the draft cannot be discarded.
- The behavior can occur for products with and without a BOM and for standard or custom fields (for example, setting “Compliance Relevant” to “No” and then discarding without pressing Enter).
- OData v2 request fails with HTTP 400 during DELETE of the draft entity.
- Error message: /BOBF/FRW_COMMON 004 — “Action BOM_HANDLING not possible; reference object does not exist”.
- Gateway error may be logged: /IWFND/CM_MGW 004 — “Rejected because of error during changeset processing”.
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Manage Product Master Data app.
- Open a product and choose Edit.
- Change a field value (for example, set “Compliance Relevant” to “No”) and do not press Enter (do not update the draft).
- Cancel and choose to discard the edit.
- Observe that an error is raised and the draft is not discarded.
Cause
A backend logic issue causes the BOM_HANDLING action to be called after the draft deletion during discard, leading to “reference object does not exist” and blocking the discard.
Resolution
Apply the software correction delivered with SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition release 2702 (planned RTC date: 13.01.2027).
