3807353 - Batch changeset with mixed PATCH/POST causes wrong item mapping in sales document (e.g. API_SALES_ORDER_SRV), SAP S/4HANA

Symptom

  • In a single OData batch changeset for e.g. API_SALES_ORDER_SRV, mixing PATCH operations on existing items with POST operations that create new items leads to an incorrect order item structure.
  • An item created via POST may take an unexpected item number, and subsequent PATCH requests can update the wrong item.
  • Observed outcome: an item shows a different material number and/or title than provided in the payload (for example, data intended for one item appears on another).
  • No explicit error message is returned by the API.
