Symptom
Unable to maintain Amount rule for investment project settlement
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Manage Settlement Rules – Projects app and select a WBS element that is part of an investment project settled to an asset under construction (AuC).
- Try to add or edit a settlement receiver for capitalization and look for an Amount entry field in the settlement rule.
- Observe that only percentage-based distribution is available and the Amount field is not offered (not visible), particularly after the project is released.
Cause
Amount rule settlement is not supported for investment projects that use event-based settlement to assets under construction (independent AuC). In such cases, the amount rule is not available and, if entered, leads to “Amount rule is not supported” during settlement.
Resolution
- Check the investment profile assigned to the project/WBS and verify whether “Event-based settlement to AuC” is active.
- If event-based settlement to AuC is active, recognize that amount-based settlement rules are not supported; use percentage-based distribution instead.
- If your business requires amount-based (fixed value) partial capitalization, switch to summary settlement by adjusting the investment profile accordingly and then maintain amount values in the settlement rule.
- Note that already released projects follow the investment profile that was active at the time of release. If the project was released with event-based settlement, the amount field will not be available for that project.
- Refer to the product documentation and notes below for details and restrictions on distribution rules and AuC settlement behavior.
