3807562 - Error "Data action exceeds the maximum amount of iterations while running on version" when running a data action with specific filters, SAP Analytics Cloud

• An error occurs when running a data action from a story after applying filters including a dimension with "# (Unassigned)" member assigned.
• Error message: Data action exceeds the maximum amount of iterations while running on version.

1. Open a story.
2. Apply filters: for one of the dimension, assign the member "# (Unassigned)" and another member.
3. Run the data action in the Story to do calculation.

1. SAC has an internal parameter AF_MAX_NUMBER_OF_ITERATIONS with default value 10,000 assigned to control the iteration limit. This parameter is not visible to customers and can't be adjusted because increasing this safety limit might cause CPU/memory risk. 
2. Execution on the selected version exceeds the internal iteration limit (AF_MAX_NUMBER_OF_ITERATIONS = 10,000) due to broad Advanced Formulas loop scope (FOR/FOREACH/Repeat) generating too many iterations/records; The causes can include: inclusion of # (Unassigned) in the filter, more booked combinations, or a larger planning area set for the version.

1. Narrow Advanced Formulas calculation scope:

• Add explicit MEMBERSETs for FOREACH/FOR loops to reduce the iteration space.
• Explicitly scope source dimensions in RESULTLOOKUP and target dimensions in DATA instead of relying on default scope.

     2.Reduce combinations that inflate iterations:

• Exclude # (Unassigned) from the filter.
• Reduce the planning area for the affected version before running the data action.

    3.Decompose the logic:

• Split acquisition and depreciation into separate, tighter steps, and orchestrate via a Multi Action if needed.
