3807627 - Clarification on Microsoft Teams onboarding notification card delivery timing and prerequisites - Onboarding

Symptom

Customers may have questions regarding the following behavior:

  • Whether notifications generated before the Microsoft Teams account is created or activated fail to deliver.

  • Whether notifications that could not be delivered before account activation are automatically resent once the account becomes available.

  • Whether previously generated notification cards are delivered after the Microsoft Teams account is created or activated.

  • Whether notifications can be configured to be generated and sent on the new hire’s start date, when the Microsoft Teams account is expected to be available.

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding

Cause

If a new hire does not have an active Microsoft Teams account at the time a notification card is generated, the notification is not delivered and there is no documented automatic retry once the account becomes available.

Resolution

  1. Ensure the SAP SuccessFactors App for Microsoft Teams is enabled in Admin Center.
  2. Activate the new hire’s Microsoft Teams account before onboarding notification cards are generated.
  3. Note that notification cards generated before the account exists are expected not to be delivered, and there is no documented automatic resend after the account becomes available.
  4. If delivery aligned to the start date is required, review the notification card behavior documentation and align process timing so notifications are generated when the Microsoft Teams account is active.
