Symptom
When a Position-to-Job Information sync rule triggers a field change in Job Information, any onSave or onChange business rules configured on the affected Job Information fields will be executed — regardless of whether the initiating user has field-level permission to those fields.
Environment
SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Edit a position field - job title and save.
- The position-to-job information sync runs and creates a new job information record updating job title field.
- There is an onchange or onsave rule updating another job information field A when job title changes, you can see that field A is also changed after position information is saved.
- This will happen even when the user does not have permission to access field A.
Cause
- The field is updated by the position-to-job information (pos-to-job info) rule during synchronization.
- Job information onChange and onSave rules run regardless of the user’s permission to view the affected field; lack of view permission does not prevent rule execution.
Resolution
This behavior is expected: the update occurs due to the position-to-job information synchronization and subsequent job information business rules; viewing permissions do not prevent these rules from running.
