Symptom
When an MDF object is currently set to Inactive and a new record is created, the Status system field is automatically set to Active after the Effective Date is selected.
The customer expects the newly created record to remain Inactive, consistent with the status of the previous record.
Additionally, because the Status field is automatically changed to Active, the system may require another field to be modified before the new record can be saved.
Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors Metadata Framework
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
Reproducing the Issue
- Navigate to Manage Data;
- Access an MDF object that has an existing record with Status = Inactive;
- Create a new record for the same object;
- Enter/select the required Effective Date;
- The Status field of the new record is automatically initialized to Active after the Effective Date is selected and save button is greyed out.
Cause
Expected behavior.
Resolution
When a new MDF record is created, the Status system field is intentionally initialized to its default value, Active, regardless of the status of the previous record. Therefore, when creating a new record, the system does not inherit the Inactive status from the previous record. The automatic transition to Active is part of the standard MDF framework behavior.
To save the newly created record with Status = Active, an additional dummy change to another field is required.
