Symptom
The system does not allow you to restrict selection by role/department in maintenance orders.
Environment
- SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open the Manage Maintenance Orders app or create a maintenance order in SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition.
- Log on with a user who should be restricted to a specific department or planner group.
- Create a new maintenance order or edit an existing one.
- Navigate to the Planner Group field.
- Observe that the user can view and select any available planner group, regardless of their role or department assignment.
- Verify that no standard authorization check prevents the user from changing the Planner Group value.
Cause
No standard authorization object exists to restrict the Planner Group field by user role or department in maintenance orders.
Resolution
- Implement BAdI EAM_ORDER_FIELD_CONTROL to control field behaviour in maintenance orders.
- Within the BAdI implementation, evaluate the user role or department and set the Planner Group field to read-only to prevent changes across departments.
- Maintain the default Planner Group via the Personalization app so that the read-only field is prefilled with the correct value upon opening a maintenance order.
