When changing a Contingent Workforce Work Order end date, the system blocks the update with the message: "You can’t set the work order end date to [date] as there is a regular employment from [date] to 12/31/9999. Adjust the date to avoid any overlap."

SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Contingent Workforce

1. Open a Contingent Worker’s Work Order.
2. Change the Work Order End Date to an earlier date.
3. Save the change.
4. Observe the error: "You can’t set the work order end date to [date] as there is a regular employment from [date] to 12/31/9999. Adjust the date to avoid any overlap."

A soft‑purged regular employment linked to the same person still exists with an open end date (12/31/9999). The overlap validation detects this employment and prevents saving the Work Order end date change.

Identify all employments linked to the person using Data Inspector Tool:

Steps to follow:

1. Make note of Person ID External 
2. Go to Data Inspector Tool 
3. Select Table_PER_PERSON filtered by Person ID External to obtain the PERSON_ID.
4. Select Table_EMP_EMPLOYMENT_INFO filtered by PERSON_ID to list all associated user ids/employments.
5. Select Table_USERS_SYSINFO for each user id to verify the status (active-t, inactive-f, soft‑purged-x).
6. If a soft‑purged regular employment with an open end date exists, plan to permanently purge that employment (hard purge).
7. Perform the permanent user deletion by following: 2392076 - Permanently deleting users (Hard Purge).
8. After the hard purge completes, retry updating the Work Order end date; the change should save successfully.
