User receives an application error when selecting an Offer Detail template in Offer Approval.

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

1. Open the relevant job requisition
2. Open the candidate’s application on that requisition
3. Select Take Action > Offer > Offer Approval
4. Select the Offer Detail template
5. Observe the application error

• Cause 1: The Offer Detail Template has an OnInit business rule that attempts to set the value of an object field; however, the affected user did not have the required Role-Based Permission (RBP) for the corresponding MDF object.
  • Splunk Logs: "Cannot invoke 'com.successfactors.rcm.api.bean.rcmcommon.RCMBusinessObject.setStringValue(String)' because the return value of 'com.successfactors.rcmoffer.bean.offerdetail.OfferDetailFieldVO.getBusinessObject()' is null."
• Cause 2: In the Offer Detail Template, the field ID for fields with type multiattachmentselection may contain an underscore (_) or other special characters.
  • Example: <field-definition id="cust_offerAdditionalAttachments" type="multiattachmentselection" required="false" ...
  • Note: The field ID for a multiattachmentselection field is expected to be a single continuous string without special characters, underscores, or other separators.

• Solution 1: Go to Manage Permission Roles and edit the relevant RBP permission role. Grant the user the View Current and View History permission to the MDF Object.
• Solution 2: Review the template configuration and remove any underscores or special characters from the field ID to ensure it is a single continuous string.
