Symptom
- What are the methods to determine whether an existing Public Dimension is classified as a Seamless Planning Public Dimension within SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)?
Environment
- SAP Analytics Cloud 2026.15
Reproducing the Issue
- Log into SAC
- Navigate to Public folder-> Dimension Tables folder
- Open any existing Public Dimension
Or - Navigate to Modeler-> Public Dimension Tables
- Check or open the Public Dimension listed under Recent Files
Resolution
- After accessing the Public Dimension Table, open the Details Panel and check if the "Data Storage (SAP Datasphere)" section is available or not:
=> If this "Data Storage (SAP Datasphere)" section is available on Public Dimension Table Details panel, it means this Public Dimension is a Seamless Planning Public Dimension. The SAP Datasphere Space shown in this section is the space where this Public Dimension is stored - When navigating to Recent Files under Public Dimension Tables tab, check the information showing under "Data Storage Location" Column:
=> If Data Storage Location of this Public Dimension shows as "SAP Datasphere", it means this Public Dimension is a Seamless Planning Public Dimension. The Datasphere Space appearing above "SAP Datasphere" is the space where this Public Dimension is stored
=> If Data Storage Location of this Public Dimension shows as "Local SAP Analytics Cloud", it means this Public Dimension is a non-Seamless Planning Public Dimension. - When accessing the Public Dimension table in SAC, below error message would appear even if this public dimension has been shared to the user with Full Control Access:
Check the har file tracing the process of accessing this Public Dimension, and observe below error message appears in the Response of Request URL https://<FQDN>/sap/fpa/services/rest/fpa/dimension?tenant=<tenant ID>:
"Failed to get spaces from appintegration for connection 'DSPXXXXXXX' and tenant '<tenant ID>' for user '<User ID>', status: 403, body: \"Forbidden\"
=> It means this Public Dimension is a Seamless Planning Public Dimension.
=> The error message in SAC and in har file means that this user is not assigned to proper authorization in Datasphere side. Please make sure to assign the Datasphere role and permissions to this user in Datasphere side as per Roles, Privileges and Data Access Control | SAP Help Portal.
