3808971 - Why does the Serial Numbers field display as [Optional] in SAP Business Network even though a Serial Number Profile is maintained in SAP ECC?

Symptom

I have integrated SAP ECC with SAP Business Network using Purchase Order (PO) Collaboration via SAP Integration Suite, Managed Gateway.
My material master in SAP ECC has a valid Serial Number Profile maintained.
The PO is successfully replicated from SAP ECC to SAP Business Network.
On the PO line item details page in SAP Business Network, under Information on Ship Notice, the Serial Numbers field is displayed as [Optional].
