Symptom
Error CK241 - Value of cost component split is less than zero during costing
Environment
SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
Reproducing the Issue
- Open Edit Costing Run app
- Maintain the required costing variant, plant, version, and company code data.
- Execute Step 2 “Costing”; the system raises error CK241 for one or more materials.
Cause
The cost component split should not be less than zero
In cases where the value of the by-product is significantly high, the resulting negative cost component split is expected behavior
Resolution
- Open the “Monitor Material Prices” app.
- Verify the material’s prices across all relevant ledgers and currencies (for example, ledger 0L in company code currency and the group currency).
- Identify any inconsistency where the material price was changed only in one ledger or currency.
- Align the material price across the required ledgers and currencies (for example, also update the group currency) according to your organization’s pricing policy.
- Re-run Step 2 “Costing” in Edit Costing run CK40N for the affected materials.
- Confirm that costs are positive and CK241 no longer appears.
